Description: Wendy Graham (Durango, Colorado) discovered folk dance, music and song in 1991 during a dance exchange in Denmark. Now the self-described "dance maniac” serves up delicious & nutritious dances for all with infectious enthusiasm and a smile. Wendy leads dance throughout the southwest, nationally & internationally. Both the young and young-at-heart enjoy her Contra, Square, and English Country Dance calling, especially when it incorporates non-traditional dance forms, like Disco and Hip-Hop. Wendy is on the Country Dance & Song Society (CDSS) board, helps run a monthly contra dance, and two dance weekends: FolkMADness (New Mexico) and Stellar Days & Nights (Colorado). Wendy is delighted to be returning to England after appearing at Sidmouth Folk Festival in 2009. Find out where in the world Wendy is or watch a hip-hop contra dance online at www.Folkmads.org/Wendy.html.
Wendy Graham’s passion for couples dance & music started at Glen Echo Park’s enchanted Spanish Ballroom (Washington, DC). Wendy further developed her skills while living in New York City by dancing virtually every night of the week and studying in the city’s top dance studios. There, she expanded her Lindy Hop repetoire with the late Frankie Manning at the Sandra Cameron Dance Studio. She began teaching Swing and Latin dance privately in 2004. Now in Durango, Colorado she leads dance parties twice weekly (since 2006). Wendy also leads workshops at folk music and dance weekends, such as Youth Dance Weekend (Vermont) and Harvest Moon Fest (Colorado). She shares her fun, night-club dance stylings in an easy-to-learn format for all skill levels. |
