He is also looked on as an elder statesman of the folk revival, having been involved as a performer, club and festival organiser, broadcaster and journalist, since the Skiffle days of the latter 1950's. After a semi-retirement through ill health Roy is now back with all the zest for singing that is his trademark. He loves to have people singing around him so be prepared for a chorus or three. Roy has recorded for Topic, Fellside, Free Reed, and Wildgoose records, toured all over the globe, and last year the Pinewoods Folk Society of New York presented him with their Eisteddfod Award 'For Services to Traditional Music'.
