Hi
Welcome to the song listings for the 2009 Festival
Once again we have managed to get some of the very best in traditional and contemporary folk music and entertainment.
Over the weekend you can get to see at least 38 acts including the amazing
new addition to Brass Monkey. Their new trumpet player,Paul Archibald, will add that extra dimension to the already fabulous sound.
Friday Evening sees the lovely Bella Hardy with Chris Sherburn performing at the Studio Hall concert stage. Belshazzar's Feast, Crucible, Lauren McCormick Band, Brian peters & Gordon Tyrrell, Tom Napper & Tom Bliss and a whole host of others will be gracing the 7 venues that you can get to.
We finish up on the Monday evening with the hilarious les barker & the Mrs Ackroyd's Band which is possibly destined to be their last ever gig as aband so this really is your last chance to see them. Make it a memory to last a lifetime.
We also have a few really special performances. The "Cornish Lads" is a powerful 90 minute musical documentary drama celebrating the World Heritage mining landscape of Cornwall and West Devon, and focusing on the true stories of people that made it, and carried it across the world.
"Waltzes & Wonders" is the exciting new show from The Ram Company, and is a musical journey through the timeless entertainment extravaganza that is the travelling fair. Here is a tantilising glimpse of what this Derbyshire based 9 piece group will be bringing ....
“The Fairground is Building Up on the green across the way. Come, join us! Try the rides and see the attractions.... Roll a Penny, Toss a Ball, visit the old-fashioned House of Wax with its heroes frozen in time.... Ride the Helter Skelter and Show Your Strength, if you dare! See Sam Taylor the Il’son Giant, Mary Ann the Tattooed Lady and visit Madam Zaza to get your fortune told. Mister Gavioli’s fairground organ will accompany you as you ride Hackett’s Golden Gallopers, before it’s time to Pull Down the fair one more time!”
Wow ~ Looking forward to that!
'Over the Festival we will be hosting at least 3 brand new album launches. News on these nearer the date.
What ever your taste is in folk music it's here for you
