The Hub and Youth Events

Ed Rennie is with us and this year has brought some of the Devon Squeezebox Foundation tutors with him.
Jill Shepherd is the English Concertina guru and a daily opportunity to learn percussive dance workshops will be led by Jenny Read
So what’s on offer?
Squeezebox Crash Course
Have you ever fancied learning to play a squeezebox but not managed to get your hands on one? Devon Squeezebox Foundation are running their Squeezebox From Scratch workshops for absolute beginners as part of Chippenham’s Youth Festival this year!
We have 10 melodeons and 10 English concertinas for hire with Jill Shepherd teaching Concertina and Ed Rennie teaching Melodeon. Open to 11 to 14 year olds, full details for registration are on the website. Get in there quick, because there are only 10 places on each course. See you there!

Build a Band Workshops (Bear Hotel)
This comprises of a daily workshop to learn how to play in a band. This is for 11-14 year olds, any instruments including transposing instruments. O the Monday there will be a showcase performance in the Hub at 5pm.

Melodeons From Scratch - Ed Rennie (Bear Hotel)
A 3 day crash course for 11 - 14 year old (absolute beginners) A chance to really try out the D/G melodeon. There will be 10 Hohner Pokerwork Melodeons for young persons to hire for the festival. Reading music not necessary. Weekend hire of instruments available.

English Concertina From Scratch - Jill Shepherd (Bear Hotel)
A 3 day crash course for 11 - 14 year old absolute beginners. A chance to really try out the English Concertina. We have 10 English Concertinas for young persons to hire for the festival. Reading music not necessary. Weekend hire of instruments available

Percussive dance for young people - Jenny Read. (The Hub) This includes Appalachian stepping, Dartmoor Step Dance, and, not seen much in Wiltshire, South African Welly Dance.

The Hub is the Marquee behind the Craft tent and is available at all other times to chill in your own area. Only supervised adults allowed in !
There will be a session each day between 12 and 1pm and another at 6pm.

If you want somewhere to swap tunes , meet new friends and relax this is the place to be. Come on in—you might be surprised !
