The Weekend Planned Out

During the day our programme is an exclusive event for local schools providing opportunities for around 300 children to have a day of workshop tuition in song, dance, playing instruments and story-telling. In the afternoon the children all come together in one venue to provide a showcase and have a dance. If you have connections with a local school and are interested in learning more please get in touch with the team.

From 6pm venues begin to open. The weekend programme kicks off with Contra, Social Dance, Ceilidh, Concerts and Spoken Word events ready to welcome you.

Saturday and Sunday

Over the festival weekend there will be a myriad of events across 14 venues in and around Chippenham.  The full programme and a map of the venues can be found in the souvenir programme and at the box office on Island park.

The craft tent and big top are open to the public during the day throughout the weekend. Display Sides can be found around the town daily, with parades through the town on both Saturday and Sunday. The Big Top provides a showcase for the display sides during the day and becomes a seated concert venue in the evening with event tickets available to purchase.

Where to stay

  1. We have two campsites available one predominantly for caravans and campers and one for tents. Both close to town and with full amenities. Many visitors opt to stay in local hotels and Bed and Breakfasts nearby. These are often booked well in advance so book early.

If you are camping with us your car can be left in the designated areas of the campsites. We ask however that you do not move your car over the weekendWe do not have specific day visitor festival parking and utilise Chippenham’s various public car parks. Recent developments in the town has created much needed additional parking facilities that can be found near the train station a short walk from the festival site and town centre.

Beyond the Festival

During the odd times when you are not busy, you can browse in the various stalls around the festival Site, enjoy the shops and cafes within the town, some of which join the festivities with our artists popping in for a spot or offer fringe events.
