DANCES FROM ‘THE SEVERN SUITE’ Festival patron John Kirkpatrick presents an opportunity to romp through the country dances he devised for “The Severn Suite” project in 2006. Combining the energy of the ceilidh with some unusual figures, whacky time signatures, exhilaratingly precise moves and the chance to step it out to John’s scintillating tunes, this is a rare event not to be missed. And this is dancing for dancers, no walking allowed! The two sessions will look at different dances each day, but come to both so you won’t feel left out of the full recap at the end of Sunday afternoon.

Moirai who are Jo Freya , Mel Biggs and Sarah Matthews present their show FRAMED - The Alice Wheeldon Story. The songs are about the plot to murder David Lloyd Geoge in 1917. Alice Wheeldon and her daughter Winnie Mason & son-in-law Alf Mason, were imprisoned for conspiracy to murder. Alice and her family were strong socialists, great opponents of the war and supporters of Conscientious Objectors. Their stance was considered not to be in support of the war effort and the conviction was brought at a big show trial surrounded by massive publicity. They had been set-up by two undercover agents working for MI5. The family argued that the murder plan was fabricated. A fantasy “a story so strange that it seems hardly to relate to the world of reality”.

Stick and Bucket competition. Based on the celebrated Terry Pratchett idea of the Stick and Bucket dance, come and let your creative juices gurgle. The only rule is the dance you/your friends/morris side/dog walker's tennis partners present has to include at least one stick and at least one bucket - the rest of the interpretation is up to you. Plan during the weekend or just make it up on the spot. Register outside the Old Road Tavern at 6pm, and our crack team of judges will decide on the winner of the coveted Bouquet d'Or for 2022.
