The whole festival board of directors, myself the Festival Organiser (Adam Courthold), and the whole festival management team are grateful for Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund from Arts Council England and supported by The National Lottery.
We are all volunteers and unpaid, working throughout the year to put together the folk festival, and as such, we were saddened to have to postpone the festival this year. However, people's safety was our main priority and this was the only option we saw fit. Although, we did want to celebrate the festival weekend, so we managed to do a virtual festival (still viewable on the festival website) with the help of our artists who are rebooked for next year.
However, this left the festival with two year's running costs to cover from only one festival year's income, so having this emergency grant come in will help towards these costs and we are very pleased the Arts Council has awarded these funds, so we can put the 2021 festival on. The festival team are busy rearranging and planning 2021 festival, so we can bring the singing and dancing back into the town, whilst supporting the local businesses in the process by crowds coming to the festivals spending in the town.
Tickets are now on sale for 2021 and if people just want to donate any amounts money to the festival fighting funds, then donate via our just giving page.
We will see everyone next year, singing and dancing.
