In times gone by this was an open-air event, learning and displaying country dances and other traditional styles at the centre of the festival.
Today, the unpredictable nature of British weather and the need for safeguarding means that our schools’ provision is now indoors and not a public event, but the fun still continues. The event is currently a lively and vibrant mass ceilidh in one of the festival venues, accompanied by a live band and caller.
Key Stage Two children from all local primary schools are invited to attend in the run-up to the festival, usually by mid-March, and each school will decide whether to attend. The 220 places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like your child to attend, please ask your school to contact the Schools Manager (schools@chippfolk.co.uk) at the appropriate time. Arrangements may also be made for home-educated children of the right age on an individual basis, by contacting the Schools Manager.
This is a closed-door event, with no access for the general public.
