The Big Top Concerts

The Big TopWelcome to the Big Top Concert Shows

This year we have a really mixed bag of performances for you. There are three different start times for the shows so check against your programme to make sure you can get there.

What is really great about the Big Top is that even though it will easily seat 500 people it still feels intimate. We try to pay particular attention to the atmosphere that is created in this venue and we spend a lot on the PA, Lights and stage setting. Hopefully, you will notice improvements this year.

Ticketing is, as always, available in two streams. We put up for sale, in advance, 200 tickets at £12 for just the concert only and the remainder of the venue is filled with Season Ticket holders (including relevant evening and day tickets). This allows up to 300 season ticket holders to gain access to these concerts which is twice the number than any of our other concert venues at the festival.

Some artists appearing in the Big Top Concerts will also be performing in other venues over the weekend or that day..

Single venue tickets are available now individually priced at just £12 each.br> Festival Season, Day and Evening ticket holders have free entry (space permitting).

There are up to 200 single event tickets available for each event.

Big Top Concerts: Sheelanagig & Ritchie Parrish Ritchie. (RPR)

Saturday evening, 26th May
7:00pm

Sheelanagig.

First up is an amazing concert with two great bands. For over a decade Sheelanagig have brought their array of foot-stomping folk tunes to audiences across the globe. A quintet with a well-stocked armoury of stringed instruments - guitar, fiddle, double bass - added with the rhythmic energy of flute and drums and a bagful of joint-jumping tunes, these boys from the South-West England create a real dynamic which is inherent in both their furious dance medleys as well as their interestingly arranged original pieces.

Ritchie Parrish Ritchie.

For years, Steve Ritchie, Al Parrish and Rob Ritchie rocked the UK folk music scene as the rhythm section of the Canadian powerhouse band Tanglefoot (Best Vocal Group, 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards).

Now the three best friends, along with percussionist/singer/songwriter Beaker Granger, have re-connected as R-P-R. They have a sound that echoes with the legacy of Tanglefoot while expanding the envelope. Their music, storytelling, humour and high-spirited stage presence bubble over with that same combination of aggressive enthusiasm, personality and that made Tanglefoot famous.

Whether it's an original country song of Al's, Steve's recollection of a Robert Plant version of an old Dylan tune or Rob's incisive musical humour, all the trademark harmony, chemistry, enthusiasm and impact are all there!

Big Top Concerts: Mick Ryan: 'Here at the Fair'

Sunday, 27th May

Mick Ryan: 'Here at the Fair'

Mick Ryan has always come up with some innovative and wonderful shows. They all have a great story and even better songs specially written by Mick to best portray the subject matter of the show.

Mick's new show takes you into the good old fashioned Fairground where you can find all the walks of life and it's characters. This show has a stellar line up of performers including Granny's Attic, Paul Downes, Pete Morton, Heather Bradford, Alice Jones and the brilliant Geoff Lakeman. This is the one show's premier performances and we are looking forward to it.
